An unmarked silver Officer’s Pipe Case.
An unmarked silver Pipe Case, circa 1860, the lid engraved with the crests of De Winton of Maesllwch Castle, Radnor and the initials ‘W de W.’
The owner was almost certainly Water de Winton [born Wilkes] 1832-1878, who was a Captain in the 1st Life Guards. It could perhaps have been his son, also Walter, 1868-1935, who served, like his father, in the Ist Life Guards.
Length of pipe case – 12.40cm.; Diameter of pipe case end – 2.70cm.
