An interesting silver Pen Tray by Thomas James Boucher.

Thomas James Boucher (1897 – 1988).

A small oval silver Pen Tray, London 1953, the upper side engraved with the Royal Arms above a presentation inscription: ‘Royal College of Art, Presented to Basil Ward, Professor of Architecture 1946-1953 “by his colleagues to show their affection and esteem.”

Tom Boucher was chief technician in the silversmithing department of the Royal College at this time. His students included Gerald Benney.

Basil Ward, 1902-1976, was a New Zealand born architect who was Lethaby Professor of Architecture at the Royal College.
