An Exeter silver Wine Funnel
An Exeter Wine Funnel.
A silver funnel, 1833, by Isaac Parkin. The exterior of the funnel top is engraved in contemporary script: ‘The Charles from his Grandfather CS.’ Very few wine funnels from Exeter have survived.
Interestingly, Parkin was not only a silversmith but an innkeeper [see MilesHarrison, ‘Exter and West Country Silver, 1700-1900.’]
Good. Some wear to maker’s mark and to the lion passant on the lower part.
Length – 13.50 cm.; Diameter – 9 cm.; Weight – 130.70 gms.
