An Austrian silver Apple Cutter.
An Austrian silver Apple Cutter, Vienna, circa 1900, struck with the retailer’s name ‘Schwarz and Steiner‘ [of 1, Kärnthnerstrasse], together with the dog’s head mark for small silver, the maker’s marks of Heinrich Dittrich and of Nathan Schimmel, and two further unidentified marks.
Unlike British equivalent versions, the cutting section of this piece is angled and the borders of the outer ring are ornamented with a pattern of woven ribbon.
