An antique Victorian parcel-gilt silver Game Counter – known as a ‘Norfolk Liar’.
A small Victorian silver Game Counter with four dials, London 1874, by Thomas Johnson. One side of the counter is silver-gilt, with click counters for numbers of Rabbits and Hares; the other side, plain silver, has counters for Pheasants and Partridges. Each counter has numbers up to thirty. The counter has a hinged suspension loop.
Norfolk liars in silver are quite rare. They were more usually of nickel.
