A Victorian Vet’s wood and silver Snuffbox.
A wooden circular Snuffbox with pull-off lid, inset with a glass painted with a flower and applied with an unmarked silver horseshoe. The horseshoe engraved: ‘Brown Veterinary Surgeon Warwick.’ Circa 1840.
William Brown died in 1845, his death reported in “The Warwick and Warwickshire Advertiser and Leamington Gazette” for January 11th. He had been, for some years, Clerk to the Course of the local races.
