Siege of Sebastopol.
A Regimental silver mounted Horn Flask, Sheffield 1858, by Hawkesworth, Eyre & Co. The horn is applied with a plaque engraved ‘Sebastopol Sepr. 8th 1855‘ and a second plaque above engraved with the crest of the 72nd Highlanders. The final assault of the siege of Sebastopol took place on the 8th September. The 72nd regiment did not play a major part in the last assault but Captain Cecil Rice of the regiment is recorded as spending that night in evacuating wounded from the trenches.
