A Victorian novelty silver Scent Case in the form of an Otter.

A rare Victorian silver case for four small scent bottles, in the form of a curled-up Otter, London 1877, by Henry William Dee, the gilt interior with retailer’s name ‘Jones’ of 23 Boulevarde des Capuccines and 41, St. James’s St., London. The hinge made of gold, the case opening with button release and with interior spring opening the lid.

We last sold this case in 1980.

Good overall with some wear to the engraved fur on the upper part of the head and body, some wear to the gilt interior.
