A small silver ‘droplet’ Dish, London 2011. Siân Matthews made a number of these dishes in various sizes. The website of the scottish-gallery.co.uk, which has exhibited some of Matthews work, has the following details:
‘Siân Matthews graduated from the Royal Collage of Art, London in 2005 after completing an MA in Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork and Jewellery.’
“I create functional silverware using clean, uncomplicated forms in combination with intricate surface pattern. I am fascinated by domestic surface decoration and patterns. My inspiration combines research from historical interiors and domestic prints along with inspiration from normal forms. I am equally inspired by the actual design and geometry of pattern making, the process of arranging and developing patterns to adorn the silver form.
My most recent pattern design ‘Droplet’ pattern plays with perspective and accentuates the form of the silver and with the etched surface shows depth and definition to the pattern complimenting the silver form.”
