A silver Souvenir of the Peninsular Wars against Napoleon.
A Spanish thread edge silver Tablefork, circa 1800, marked by Zunzarren of San Sebastian, Spain, inscribed on the front ‘Plunder of St. Sebastian 31st August 1813.’ Engraved on the reverse with a crest above the initials ‘AA‘.
A crescent crest was used by the families ‘Achyem, Adam, Alderton, Anderson, and Arnot [with spelling variations].
The fork had clearly been well-used before being captured as ‘war booty’. The engraving is, however, clear, as is the mark.
