A Seal for the Sheriff of Northumberland.
A George III brass Desk Seal, with mushroom-shaped wood handle, the matrix cut with the arms and initials of Raph Bates, [1764-1813], of Milbourne Hall, who was made Sheriff of Northumberland in 1812.
Description
Condition:
Good with small scratches in one area of the upper side of the brass seal. The wood handle has some movement in the brass socket but is firmly in place.
