A rare Victorian silver and enamel novelty Bookmark in the form of the Colours of the regiment of Sctos Guards, London 1889, by H. Thornhill. Engraved on the reverse with ‘W. Thornhill & Co. 144 Bond St. W‘ and ‘Scots Guards‘. Engraved also with the registered design number 94689.Under the enamel glaze parts of the surface have been left plain silver. The ground under the red area of enamel has been engraved to simulate folding in the textile of the colours.
