A pair of George III silver small-sized Sauce Boats.
£820.00
A pair of George III small Sauce Boats with chased bead rims and hoof feet, London 1781, maker’s mark BM’.
This maker’s mark is often attributed as that of Benjamin Mordecai [also known as Mountige]. Mordecai was, however, a specialist buckle maker: so it is possible that these boats and other larger pieces with the mark are by another unidentified maker.
The bodies of the boats are engraved with a contemporary crest and, on the handle, with the initials ‘EC’.
