A late 18th century Exeter silver Sucket Fork.
An English provincial late 18th century silver Sucket fork, struck with a lion passant, duty mark and maker’s mark ‘IH’, probably Exeter circa 1790.
It has been suggested [see: Tim Kent] that this maker’s mark is an early mark for Joseph Hicks of Exeter. One other, nearly identical, sucket fork with these marks has been noted. My thanks to a private collector for providing this information.
