A George V silver model of a Baby’s Shoe.
An unusual silver Baby Shoe formed in silver by Elkington and Company, Birmingham 1915, exactly copying a high quality French child’s leather shoe of the period. The base of the shoe has the impression of the baby’s name ‘Molly‘ and the size ‘Extra‘ with ‘L‘ and ‘F‘ : presumably for ‘left foot’. Elkington and Company specialised in making copies of pieces using a process of electro-forming and the exactness of this piece would suggest that it was made using that process.
Good with a minor stain to the interior of the shoe and a very small crack at the corner of one strap where it adjoins the body of the shoe.
Length – 12.30 cm.; Width – 5.30 cm.; Weight – 143.50 gms.
