A George IV Book form Vinaigrette.
A George IV silver Book-shaped silver Vinaigrette, London 1828, with floral scroll interior grille. The maker’s mark, ‘B.’S’ with a pellet between is similar to that illustrated by Grimwade for Benjamin Smith II but which lacks the pellet between the B and S. The mark on this vinaigrette is more likely, however, to be that of Benjamin Stephens, a gold worker of 7, Searle Place, Carey Street.
The whole of the interior silver-gilt.
