A George III silver Wine Label engraved for ‘Hermitage’ wine.

A George III cut-corner oblong Wine Label, engraved for ‘Hermitage‘ and with a family crest above, London 1799, by Mary Hyde and John Reily.

Mary Hyde, widow of John, entered this mark in partnership with Reily on 28th November 1799 which means that this label was made between that date and the end of the date letter cycle on 30th May 1800. Reily had been an apprentice of and then journeyman employee of Mary’s husband, James Hyde. Mary married John Reily in 1801.
