A George II silver-mounted Shell Snuffbox.
A silver mounted shell Snuffbox, maker’s mark only circa 1740: the maker ‘RW’ in gothic letters unidentified; and the lid finely engraved with a coat-of-arms supported by a sea triton with a Royal Naval ship in the background. The arms perhaps those of the Walters family.
Good with an old crack in the shell. Some staining on the interior of the lid.
