A George II silver boat-shaped Snuffbox.

A George II double-lidded boat-shaped Snuffbox, maker’s mark and lion passant only, Peter Wirgman, London circa 1740. The lids with flat-chased ornament and script initials.
This mark [3756] was attributed by Grimwade to Peter Werritzer but re-attributed by Brian Beet:- see his article in ‘The Silver Society Journal‘, volume 14, 2002, pp. 49-78: ‘Foreign Snuffbox makers in eighteenth century London‘.
