Duchess of Sutherland Cripples’ Guild.
A two-handled silver Bowl in Graeco-Roman style, Birmingham 1909. The body is of sheet silver with an applied reeded base rim. The lower part of the body is chased in low relief.
The Guild was founded by the Duchess in 1900 to assist disabled children in the Staffordshire potteries. A good account of it can be found online at https://hammerandhand.co.uk/duchess-of-sutherland-cripples-guild/
Guildwork was sold at the London showroom in New Bond Street. Silverwork is relatively uncommon.
