A 17th century silver Tobacco Box, circa 1680, struck only with a maker’s mark ‘WB’ incuse inside the lid and body.
This mark, which is struck on the 1682 plate of marks at the London Goldsmiths’ Company, has been identified as either William Bertram or William Brafield [[Philip Priestley, ‘Early Watch Case Makers of England’]
The lid engraved with the arms of Walker of Lancaster.
Good with tiny surface crack to catch.
